WHAT WE DO

The Cleantech Party supports state and federal candidates committed to creating a clean energy and carbon-neutral economy that works for everyone. We get results. With all of our events, we raise money and awareness in support of candidates and lawmakers who champion climate change and clean energy. We always select results-oriented candidates who commit to prioritizing a clean energy economy that works for everyone.

We push candidates and elected officials to lead and be outspoken on bold climate, clean energy, and transportation policies that spur economic growth and protect vulnerable communities. We support those who prioritize climate change mitigation and are willing to expend political capital for real, measurable climate action. We can and must do more now.

Here’s what we advocate for:

Clean Energy

Using renewable energy, energy storage and demand side efficiency and flexible demand options to support reduction in energy sector pollution, including the elimination of GHG emissions. Specific policy options we support are an economy wide cap and trade system, clean energy tax incentives, appliance efficiency standards, building decarbonization, and energy efficiency and renewable energy standards.

Transportation

Investments in public transportation and electric vehicle infrastructure including policies that lead to increasingly higher vehicle efficiency standards, walkable communities, transit-oriented development and alternative modes of transportation, such as cycling, bus, rail and ride sharing.

Environmental Justice and Equity

Support for disadvantage communities that are disproportionately affected by pollution and climate change. We must work to ensure that all communities have access to safe drinking water, clean air, open spaces, and meaningful opportunities to participate in a clean energy and clean transportation economy.

The Economy

Diversifying our economy away from carbon-based energy infrastructure. Now is the time to invest in our clean economy future by supporting industries that will create new, good-paying jobs while spurring growth, productivity, and innovation. This includes stimulus incentives for clean energy and transportation infrastructure as part of economic stimulus.

Going forward we will continue our activities:

Events: Our Cleantech Parties bring together inspirational public leaders like Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, DSCC Chair Senator Catherine Cortez Masto, Attorney General Eric Holder, and other Members of Congress including frontline women of color, climate leaders such as Barbara Lee - plus others within the clean energy and technology community to elect dynamic, dedicated candidates who will advance a clean economy agenda. And we have lots of fun doing it!

Grassroots Engagement:  When we find candidates who are leaders on issues like renewable portfolio standards, cap-and-trade, or electric vehicles, we mobilize our community to knock-on doors, make phone calls and develop policy.  Learn more on our Join Us page.

Advocacy: Our community is hundreds strong, made up of some of the smartest energy, transportation and climate doers out there. Because not all good candidates know as much about this field as they should, we advocate and educate leaders to help them to become even more effective on critical clean energy and climate policy.

Share The Spirit: Part of our mission is to help expand the community by helping others throughout the country who want to do similar activities and be part of the 'Cleantech Party'. Check out our Join Us page for more details on how to reach us and discuss how we can work together.
